About Jarrod S. Williams

IT ALL STARTS WITH -

An endless passion to play, and create music,
while keeping in mind there is always, more to be learned.

As a musician I strive to perform at a high technical level. I practice regularly and push myself for continuous improvement on my instrument, and seek to expand my musical vocabulary in various styles of music.

I began playing the guitar at the age of 17. My father, who was always supportive of any endeavor, musical or otherwise, came home with a small children’s Horner acoustic guitar for my brother and I to share. My dad was willing to give us a shot at playing music, but also was only willing to invest $60, as he was expecting that is would be something that my brother and I would give up after a few weeks. An understandable position and wise one considering that many parents probably spend many hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, on music instruments and lessons, only to have their children lose interest and leave them collecting dust. Fortunately my brother and I were immediately consumed with playing that small guitar, fighting over who got to play it and when. I quickly took the money that I was earning at my part time after school job and began saving toward a new Ovation acoustic/electric guitar so that I could have a guitar of my own.

By the time I had been playing guitar for a year, I had joined a band with my brother and some fellow friends. We played our first gig at the Londonderry Commons in Londonderry, NH, and quickly gained a local following and started playing around the area. Like many bands, we eventually broke up and went our separate ways as members ventured off to college.

A couple of years later I was approached by some friends who wanted to jam. Those jam sessions quickly turned more serious and parlayed into what was to become “Eastern Sun”. We were a 3 piece power trio, consisting or Andrew Wagley on Guitar and Eric Wagley on Drums, and myself on Bass Guitar. This was my first experience playing the bass and it was love at first note. Andrew was an accomplished guitarist, as was I, however, we needed someone to play the bass. Luckily we were able to obtain a loaner bass and I volunteered to take the position. I was immediately hooked.

I found in the bass, what I had not on the guitar, my true voice and place within music. I put as much time and effort into transitioning from a “guitarist” to a “bassist”. I didn’t want to be a guitarist who played the bass. I wanted to be a bassist, plain and simple. For me, this meant learning to play with my fingers and less with a pick, learning slap techniques, and much more.

Eastern Sun enjoyed a good run. We had a great local following and played around the New England area at many bars and clubs. Eventually the band came to an end and we amicably went our separate ways.

I then co-founded the band Tore Down House and played with them for a couple of years before parting ways and joining the Jimmy Lehoux Band.

IT NEVER ENDS

Passion never dies. It grows
stronger every day.

I’ve been very lucky to have found a home with the Jimmy Lehoux Band. As a member I have had the opportunity to open for many national acts including, Kenny Chesney, Travis Tritt, Leanne Rimes, Charlie Daniels, Charlie Pride, Phil Vassar, just to name a few. We’ve had the opportunity to play stages like Gillette Stadium, Meadow Brook, Indian Ranch, Capitol Center and many more. You can see where were playing by visiting www.jimmylehouxband.com.

Back in 2001 I began playing at Church, and realized that God was calling me to ministry. Worshiping the Lord through music is a truly spiritually fulfilling calling and one that I truly love with all my heart. I am very blessed that the Lord sees fit to allow me to help bring followers deeper into Worship on a weekly basis. I am currently assistant music director of the Contemporary Music Ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Derry, NH. We play weekly Sunday masses at 10:30AM and 6PM year round. (All are welcome!).  I also play with Lazarus Ministry of Praise at various services and church functions. You can learn more at www.ministryofpraise.com.

At home I enjoy time with my beautiful and wonderful wife Ashley, our son Dylan, and our pack of Chihuahuas, Sugar, Toby and Chloe.
